🏗️ Floor Prep — Adhesive Removal ▶

Setup

Nick is dropping the floor buffer + Hexpin mastic removal attachment on site. NIOSH masks available in the rolling black toolbox if needed.

Day 1 — Bulk adhesive removed by hand scraping

Run floor buffer + Hexpin over entire floor in slow overlapping passes

Like mowing a lawn — keep moving, don't dwell. Sweep/vacuum continuously. If glue gums up, sprinkle masonry sand on the floor.

Run your Makita + 4" diamond cup wheel along all exterior walls

Cup wheel is in Nick's drop.

Measure rear office room — text dimensions to Nick (for tile planning)

Sweep and vacuum — confirm bare gray concrete throughout

Leave bare — no sealers or chemicals on the concrete.

QC check — water droplet test in several spots across the floor

Drop a few water drops: absorbs immediately = clean and open. Beads up = residue still present, grind that area again.

If Nick brought RAM Board — lay starting at front door, work back until it runs out

Tape all seams.

🪵 Framing, Drywall & Demo ▶

Remove old flooring near doorways and rear walls

Far enough back that baseboard or quarter round covers it. Do this first — clear the path.

Demo the built-in shelf wall in the old bathroom — expose plumbing and electrical

Right back room / abandoned bathroom. Needs to happen before framing so you know what's in the walls.

Frame the double door opening closed — shared wall, 2747 side

2×4 framing, PT sill on slab, studs 16" OC

Frame the single door opening closed — shared wall

Hang drywall on both closed wall openings

3 sheets 5/8" drywall in Nick's drop

Tape and mud — first coat, all drywall joints

Cut the excess metal track past the wall-mounted mirror — flush

Remove bathroom vanity and cap supply lines — do LAST

Use the sink for cleanup throughout the job.

🔧 Repairs & Misc ▶

Put all loose tools into the rolling black toolbox

Move couch out to dumpster area

Replace air filter — new one is on site

Tuck ethernet cable near rear door back into the drop ceiling — tiles only, do not open or disturb the grid structure

Assess back door latch — can it be better secured?

Old and damaged. Rework latch or add metal reinforcement plate? Send Nick your findings + recommendation.

General cleanup at end of job

🔩 Drain Stack Flow Test ▶

Run this after the shelf wall demo — once the plumbing is exposed. Nick supplies the adapter and hose. Text results when done.

If backup occurs

Shut it off immediately and text Nick.

Remove cleanout cap on both ends of cast iron stack

Right back room near electrical panel

Connect garden hose via adapter Nick provides — bathroom supply valve to cleanout (~6-8 ft)

Run water for several minutes — watch both ends for flow and no backup

Drains freely at outside cleanout, no gurgling inside = good.
